Swerve Update
Ryan Dognaux
From all the swerve feedback we received after launch and at IRI, we decided to roll a couple of last minute improvements into the module as production starts. These small changes have already been rolled into the OnShape CAD model & validated by 1706:
- Holes added to the billet motor spacer will allow teams to secure them to the motor itself, making pulling a motor or preparing spare motors extremely easy.
- Slight counterbores have been added to the 10-32 tapped holes on the 4 inch billet wheel making tread installation easier.
- Small ribs were added to the billet wheel as well to improve strength of the spokes having seen occasional damage to other wheels this season on steel field features.
- The hex on the top of the bevel output shaft was changed from rounded hex to regular hex to reduce backlash even further.
- The hole in the top plate surrounding the center column shaft magnet was opened up a bit in case teams need to access it. We don’t expect that magnet to be loose, but just in case it ever is, you’ll be able to apply glue without taking the top plate off.
That should be it! Thank you to everyone who provided feedback and allowed us to roll these small improvements into the module. We’re really excited to get these parts in hand and ship them out to teams.
